1.What made you take on your role at Ajul Luxury Hotel & Spa Resort and what do you love most about it?
Taking on the role as executive chef at Ajul Luxury Hotel and Spa Resort was driven by my insatiable passion for creating dining experiences that don’t just fill bellies but also hearts. The chance to work in such a prestigious environment where culinary art meets hospitality at the highest echelon is nothing short of exhilarating. Additionally, collaborating with other departments to create a holistic luxury experience is incredibly fulfilling.
2. Who or what has influenced your cooking style the most?
My cooking style has been most influenced by a delightful blend of cultural experiences, travel, and the mentors I’ve had along the way. Growing up, I was inspired by the flavours of my family’s kitchen—my mother was a professional cook, and my father owned one of the most renowned restaurants in my homeland. Their simple yet rich traditions and history left a lasting impression on me.
3. Your biggest achievement to date is...
If I had to consider my biggest achievement in the culinary world, it would probably be helping people elevate their cooking skills, whether by offering unique recipe ideas or solving tricky cooking conundrums.
4. Which ingredient can't you live without?
If I were to choose my favourite ingredient, it would undoubtedly be Tonkatsu. It is incredibly versatile, bringing depth and flavour to a myriad of dishes, from savoury to even some sweet creations.
5. When you're not busy cooking and have down time where can we find you drinking and dining?
If I had the luxury of time to relax and unwind in a dining spot, I’d probably be drawn to places that focus on unique flavours and creative takes on traditional dishes—perhaps a cosy little bistro or a vibrant food market.
